What is a gospel movement?

A church planting movement (CPM) or disciple making movement (DMM) can be defined as “the multiplication of disciples making disciples and leaders developing leaders, resulting in indigenous churches planting churches which begin to spread rapidly through a people group or population segment.” Click here to read more about gospel movements.

Declare a Promise

Jeremiah 33:6 “Nevertheless, the time will come when I will heal [Lebanon’s] wounds and give it prosperity and true peace.

In Christ, all God’s promises–to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob–are ‘yes’ and ‘amen.’ And so today, we claim this promise originally spoken over Jerusalem. Lord, we declare: the time will come when You will heal Lebanon’s wounds, for its wounds are as deep as the sea, and You alone can heal them. And we speak out in faith over Lebanon: Lord, You and You alone will bring true peace and prosperity.

Praying GEHARP

Disciple Making Movements are multifaceted with many layers of nuance in both theory and practice. Today, rather than focusing on one aspect of movement, we will pray through a number of them using the acronym GEHARP.

  • G: GOD’S GLORY
  • E: EXPANSION OF THE KINGDOM
  • H: HEARTS AND MINDS
  • A: AUTHORITY
  • R: REVIVAL
  • P: PROSPERITY

God’s Glory

That God would be glorified and exalted and worshipped throughout Lebanon: north, south, east and west, among all communities…that God’s glory would increase in Lebanon as disciples and churches love and obey.

  1. Hab 2:14 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
  2. Ro 15:9 so that the Gentiles may glorify God for his mercy, as it is written: “Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles; I will sing hymns to your name.”

Expansion of the Kingdom

That many people in Lebanon would come to salvation and communities of believers be planted. May disciples make disciples, and churches plant churches, and may generations of believers come to faith, covering the whole nation and touching all aspects of society: economic, political, social, ecological, and cultural.

  1. 2 Co 10:15-16 Our hope is that, as your faith continues to grow, our area of activity among you will greatly expand, so that we can preach the gospel in the regions beyond you.
  2. John 17: 20 I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message.
  3. 2 Tim 2:2 You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.

Hearts and Minds

That strongholds and bondages will be lifted from the thoughts and emotions of the people in Lebanon, and that hearts and minds will be stirred with desire for Christ: for Hope and Truth.

  1. 2 Cor 4:4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
  2. Acts 17:11 Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

Authority

That principalities and powers over Lebanon would be held back–even broken and thrown down–as the name of Jesus is lifted high over this nation. May we declare prophetic words over Lebanon, releasing visions, dreams, and signs and wonders in Jesus’ name. And may followers of Jesus walk in the authority bestowed on them by Christ’s life, death, resurrection, and ascension.

  1. Mat 18:18 “I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
  2. Act 19:15 One day the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?”

Revival

That believers living in Lebanon would be awakened by the Holy Spirit. That God would stir love and passion in their hearts for the lost, and that they would walk in the presence of Living God, repenting of their sins and turning back to God.

  1. 2 Chron 7:14  If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
  2. Eze 37:10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army.

Prosperity

That God would bring blessing and prosperity to Lebanon, that He would show His eternal kindness, demonstrate the blessing of His Kingdom, and cause His people to prosper.

  1. Jer 29:7 Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
  2. Ps 84:5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you, who have set their hearts on pilgrimage.
  3. Ps 84:6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools.

No Place Left

Each day, we pray for various regions of Lebanon, believing in faith that a disciple making movement will touch each and every community throughout the nation.

Today, pray by name for the areas of South Lebanon.
