What is a gospel movement?

A church planting movement (CPM) or disciple making movement (DMM) can be defined as “the multiplication of disciples making disciples and leaders developing leaders, resulting in indigenous churches planting churches which begin to spread rapidly through a people group or population segment.” Click here to read more about gospel movements.

Declare a Promise

Psalm 22:27 “All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of [Lebanon!] shall worship before you.”

Declare: Lord, all the peoples of Lebanon will remember you! All the sects will turn to You. Every knee will bow and every tongue confess that You, the Christ, are Lord and Savior, the hope of Lebanon.

Today’s Movement Theme: REPENTANCE

Across church planting movements globally, we see a divine intervention, a kind of grace for repentance. When believers share, people respond. There is a softness of heart, an openness to the move of the Spirit. Unlike Pharaoh, who hardened his heart and stubbornly refused, people are ready to respond with soft hearts. In disciple making movements, apprentices of Jesus are able to share with friends, with family, with their natural communities, and God’s grace for repentance is present.

The month of Ramadan is known as ‘the month of repentance,’ and so as we pray for a gospel movement to transform this nation, let us cry out for God’s Kingdom to come, for a spirit of repentance to fall on the peoples living in Lebanon: Sunnis, Shiite, Druze, and Christian; Lebanese, Syrian, Palestinian, and Iraqi; rich and poor, young and old, male and female.

Pray the Scripture

Matthew 3:2 “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

  1. Pray for the religious leaders: Mosque leaders, community leaders, teachers of religion in universities and community centers. Pray for a softness of heart among the religious leaders.
  2. Pray for Lebanese throughout the country to experience true repentance.
  3. Pray for repentance among the political elite of this country; ask God to grant them a broken and contrite heart. May the leaders of this nation repent for their participation in injustice.

Acts 2:37, 38 “Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

  1. Intercede for those sharing God’s good news, that their words would ‘pierce the heart’ of those who hear. May the response of the Lebanese this month be: “What must we do to be saved?”
  2. Intercede for new communities to: (1) Repent, (2) Turn to God, (3) Be baptized, and (4) Be filled with the Holy Spirit

Romans 2:4 “Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?”

  1. Declare the loving kindness of God, that his mercies are new every morning, that his faithfulness is indeed great to Lebanon.
  2. Declare that this year is the year of the Lord’s favor, that this month is the month of repentance, that this month is when God’s Kingdom is at hand.

No Place Left

Each day, we will pray for various regions of Lebanon, believing in faith that a disciple making movement will touch each and every community throughout the nation.

Today, pray by name for the main cities and areas of Lebanon.

Cities: Tripoli Beirut Saida Sur

Areas: Akkar Bekaa Nabatieh Baalbek Beirut Jabal Lubnan South Lebanon North Lebanon

PRAYER

Lord: Soften hard hearts! Open deaf ears! Restore blind eyes! Where communities have hearts of stone, Lord, bring forth hearts of flesh. Have mercy! May you release a spirit of brokenness and contrition throughout the land; lead your people to grieve over injustice and sin; lead your children to search for another way. Father of kindness, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. And lead Lebanon to repent of its many sins.

Amen
